I attended Bellus Academy in Poway, California in 2010, graduating from their full-time 1,000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner and Massage Therapy program. Through that comprehensive program, I learned not just relaxing Swedish techniques, but advanced modalities like reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, seated (chair) massage, hydrotherapy, spa treatments, pre-natal massage, and shiatsu. The program also thoroughly examined human anatomy and physiology as it relates to massage therapy, giving me an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of the body.
In addition to my years practicing as a massage therapist, I also worked in the health-related field of medical coding and billing. I passed the AAPC CPC exam in December of 2017, which blended my knowledge of anatomy with the comprehension required for understanding pathologies (diseases) and reading medical charts.
So, what now?
Currently, I'm seeing clients in a professional treatment room as well as teaching and mentoring at Missouri Institute of Massage Therapy and Bodywork in St. Charles, Missouri.
